Here is a snippet of what life has looked like around here lately:
Matt opened up his first office and I am so proud of him!! It looks great & he did most of the work himself choosing furniture, etc. It has taken some time to get everything in place but is now settling down as he will be having meetings and clients to his new office!
Some "before" shots
and after!
they got to design a new floor plan for the office so it underwent some major reconstruction!
and after!
Matt has done such a great job with it and I'm so proud of him!
School has been non stop for me lately with middle of the year testing, common assessments, trainings, RTI meetings and more but thankfully I have a job I love so that helps with the craziness!
my Friday afternoons/evenings usually consist of prepping for the next week
Sundays have lately been spent at Starbucks grading & laughing at some of the funny answers/things my kiddos write on their assessments!
my dear friend and I got to attend our first training together & went on a double date with our husbands after. so thankful for this "co-worker" (even though we are at different campuses) and life friend!
Matt has also spent the last six weeks coaching a 5th/6th grade team at our church. So proud of his 5-1 season! They play a "coaches game" at the end of the season and celebrate with an awards program after. He did great in his game too!
We've also been plugging away at some of our new years goals:
Work: use my time more effectively so I leave sooner in the afternoon
I've been very disciplined in this which helps with the life goal because I have to be home at a decent time to go workout. It is a little strange though because every time I leave "early" I feel like I'm forgetting something or not getting something done but so far its working out!
Life: get healthy & fit -- eat better and make time for exercise
I'm back on My Fitness Pal which helps with better eating choices &
keeping accountable with Matt, my mom & a friend. We've joined a gym
which has been fun. Baylor also likes this goal because she lives to go
on walks!
Faith: read the Bible in a year with Matt
This is going great! The fact that we are both doing this & the fact you can listen to it helps keep us on track with this. So far we've made it through Genesis, Exodus, Job & currently working on Leviticus. We are doing the chronological bible reading plan which is a little rough at parts with all the laws and rules in Leviticus but it has been great to discuss it with each other!
Marriage: be more intentional in having a date night and be more intentional with our conversation
We've had a lot of fun dates & are doing a weekly question chat time with each other to check in for the week to be more intentional. We also are going to start budget dates to help us keep on track with this together as well!
we had a fancy double date with Matt's coworker and his wife!
I surprised Matt with a date to a Mavs game!
weekend getaway with Matt's company to celebrate his success with the past year! I'm such a proud wife :)
we've also had numerous Starbucks dates for reading/work that I love!
And for a few last random things that have happened in the last month or so:
we hung out with our friends the Bush's on a Friday night a while back and Matt got to learn all about My Little Ponies from their adorable daughter. our Friday nights are sooo exciting ;)
we watched the Super Bowl at home. Matt's only request was chips & dips. I think this was his football watching dream come true!
our bible study has started back up which is such a refreshing end to Tuesdays!
one of my kiddos brought Baylor her first valentine! so precious!
my kiddos spoiled me so much! flowers, candy & even a stuffed animal dog to remind me of Baylor while I'm at work!
Matt spoiled me too with a dinner in Dallas & beautiful flowers!
and I'll leave you with this. Baylor's thoughts of our late night Yathzee game one night! She is totally not a fan ;)
If you made it this far thank you & you deserve to go treat yourself to something delicious! Hopefully I'll get back into the blogging groove so you won't have to suffer through an extremely long post!
